Sucesso!!!!
Depois de várias tentativas, instalei o WebUpdater em outra Máquina, consegui executar o pre-boot
Segui os passos acima e depois Atualizei a versão 4.10

Pessoal!!
Tive o mesmo problema de vocês com o meu etrex 10! Tentei diversas vezes fazer todos os processos que encontrei na net...inclusive o de Angelino neste post! Mas sem resultado...cheguei a deixar o GPS um dia inteiro fazendo o Updater mas nada.
Entrei em contato com a Garmin internacional e eles me passaram dois arquivos, o updater e o RGN com as instruções abaixo. E deu certo! Uma das diferenças que observei no processo foi que eles pedem para segurar o joystick para cima até que a atualização seja concluída.
Enfim, foi difícil conseguir, já estava desistindo, então vou compartilhar para que outras pessoas não quebrem tanto a cabeça com eu:
Instruções da Garmin Internacional:
The following instructions are for Windows computers only. It is not possible to restore system software on a Mac. Attached to this email are the files required to install the system software to the device.
Extract the contents of the attached .zip file to the computers desktop screen
You will need to rename Updater.exex to Updater.exe
Drag RGN file onto Updater.EXE
Assuming device is USB, Select USB
With the GPS turned off, hold the thumb stick in the North direction(up) and plug it into the computer
As soon as it appears under USB, click OK
Continue boot block process until software is updated
If device is a mass storage device and now appears as device, Right-click on Drive and select Eject
After following this procedure, the Garmin device should now be functioning properly.
